Hong Hu
(1940- ) Hong Hu, a native from Anhui Province’s Jinzhai County, was born in June 1940. He graduated from the Beijing Institute of Technology in 1963 where he majored in industrial chemistry, and began work in September 1963. He joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in June 1965. Hong has successively served as a workshop technician, vice director of the Jilin Chemical Industry Corporation’s Dye Plant, workshop director of the Qinghai Liming Chemical Industry Plant, director of the Planning Division under the Ministry of Chemical Industry, director of the Planning Department for the State Machinery Industry Committee, division chief and then secretary-general of the State Economic Restructuring Commission. Hong took up the post of deputy director of the State Economic Restructuring Commission from 1991 and March 1998. During the period, he was also elected to be member of the Central commission for Discipline Inspection of CPC in 1992. He served as deputy director of the Economic Restructuring Office of the State Council from April to September in 1998. Beginning in September 1998 he held posts as deputy secretary of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee, vice governor and acting governor of Jilin. In February 1999, he was elected as governor of Jilin at the second session of the Ninth Jilin People’s Congress. In January 2003, he was re-elected as governor of Jilin at the first session of the 10th Jilin People’s Congress. He was member of the 15th CPC Central Committee and is now a member of the 16th CPC Central Committee.
