Hu was born October, 1929; a native of Yulin County, Shaanxi Province;
joined Communist Party of China (CPC) and started work in April, 1948; graduated
from Beijing University; university education; minister of Electronics Industry.
Studied at Beijing University from 1946 to 1951; served as president of
All-China Students' Federation and alternate member of Secretariat of Communist
Youth League Central Committee from 1956 to 1966.
Served as member of Secretariat of Communist Youth League Central Committee
and president of All-China Youth Federation from 1978 to 1980; Party secretary
and mayor of Tianjin between 1980 and 1982; director of General Office, member
of Secretariat and member of Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee from 1982
to 1987.
Served as member and Standing Committee member of Political Bureau and
Secretariat member of CPC Central Committee from 1987 to 1989; vice minister and
member of leading Party group of Ministry of Machine-Building and Electronics
Industries from 1991 to 1993.
Serving as minister of Electronics Industry since 1993.
Member of 12th to 14th CPC Central Committees and Standing Committee member
of Fifth CPPCC National Committee and Vice-chairman of the Ninth National
Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
